Review: La Belle Sauvage

La Belle Sauvage (Book of Dust 1) by Philip Pullman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this! If I hadn’t been busy with holiday prep I would have read it in one sitting. 🙂 Can’t wait for the next one! I really need to go back and re-read the His Dark Materials trilogy in the meantime …

Review: The Fire Sermon

The Fire Sermon
The Fire Sermon by Francesca Haig
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In a post-dystopian world, life develops in interesting ways. I enjoyed the premise and found much of the writing beautiful (not surprising considering Haig is a poet). Engaging enough that I would read the sequel.

Review: Acceptance

Acceptance
Acceptance by Jeff VanderMeer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Did you like “Lost” (the TV series)? Do you like Kafka? Yes, and yes? Go ahead, plunge into this trilogy. The intricate and intriguing storylines in the first two books come together (mostly) in this, the third. Not everything is answered though, so don’t look for a neat and tidy ending.
