Review: All My Puny Sorrows

All My Puny Sorrows by Miriam Toews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

While it might seem odd to say that I laughed out loud at times while reading a book primarily about suicide, I did indeed. It is, in equal parts, ironic, deeply sad, and completely hilarious. Incredibly moving, and with one of the best flawed yet believable narrators I’ve come across, this is a fantastic novel about life, love, and loss.

Review: Crosstalk

Crosstalk
Crosstalk by Connie Willis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Fun romp for Sci-Fi/Fantasy and RomCom fans. Wit, mixed messages, comedy of errors – all to do with communication, and out-of-control nature of contemporary social media. This is delightful, smart, and very readable.

Review: Arcadia

Arcadia
Arcadia by Iain Pears
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Do you like sci-fi / fantasy / time travel / dystopian / spy thriller / romance fiction? Yes, then this is the book for you. Don’t read it when you’re really tired – you’ll lose track of who’s who, where, and when as you travel between three universes/time periods/alternate realities. It’s witty, twisty, and complicated and I highly recommend it!
