In observance of Women’s History Month, the Katharine Brush Library has put up a Think of All the Wonders We Can Do: Standing Up for the Empowerment of Women and Girls book display on the second floor. Wonder Woman shares her tiara this month with notable women like Gloria Steinem, Hillary Clinton, and Ella Grasso, along with lesser known pioneers like American women soldiers and sports players. Sharing these women’s stories not only helps to remind us of our past, but also inspires us to work toward a better future for everyone. This month’s book display further reminds all women that we are all Wonder Women.
This February, the Katharine Brush Library is putting a spin on Black History Month with a special Black HerStory Month display, celebrating the achievements of African American women. Some of the featured women include Coretta Scott King, Ethel Payne, Pauli Murray, Lena Horne, and Mavis Staples. For additional information about these women or to find books on the historic achievements of other African American women, stop by the library and talk with one of our staff members!
Feeling inspired by this week’s speakers and activities celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr.? Keep that momentum going and come check out our book display on the second floor! We have a great selection of books about Martin Luther King, Jr. and on those he helped to inspire in the fight for racial justice and equality.
