Review: The Flight of Gemma Hardy

The Flight of Gemma Hardy
The Flight of Gemma Hardy by Margot Livesey
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A more modern (but not contemporary) retelling of Jane Eyre. Livesey spends more time on Gemma’s childhood than Bronte does on Jane’s. A little flat in the middle, and lacking some of the drama (and a crazy wife in the attic plus a house fire) of the original, but still enjoyable.
