Review: Longbourn

Longbourn
Longbourn by Jo Baker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If I could write historical fiction, this is exactly how I’d do it. Jo Baker takes the below-stairs characters ordinarily invisible in 19th century fiction and brings them to life stunningly. If you happen to be a Pride and Prejudice fan, that’s the icing on the cake as you see how the lives of those characters intersect and impact (or not) the lives of the servants in this novel. It’s beautiful and brings real-life context to Austen. Fabulous!
