Review: The Daughters of Mars

The Daughters of Mars
The Daughters of Mars by Thomas Keneally
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A wonderful, sweeping epic of the horror of World War I, from the perspective of two Australian sisters who volunteer as nurses. Some readers seem to have struggled with Keneally’s style in this, particularly the quotation-less dialogue. His preface explains his stylistic choices and I found they helped evoke the era.
